Los Angeles is Visited by History Detectives to Investigate WWII Cane Origins
A California man hopes the Japanese characters on this hand-carved cane will unlock the mysteries of his family’s past. The cane belonged to his grandparents who were sent to an Arizona relocation camp after Pearl Harbor. Host Tukufu Zuberi interviews Jane Nakasako at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. Also they trace an unusual wooden telescope to its Revolution era ancestor. And is a drawing of huge, eight pound gold nugget genuine or another example of Gold Rush hype?
